The hatchback design has never been hugely popular with American car buyers, but that may be changing. Ford is one of the many car makers making a hatchback model this year.

"Ford reports that 60% of the buyers of its new Ford Fiesta mini-car are opting for the five-door hatchback," according to USA Today. By contrast, Ford says that only 8.3% of their cars sold last year were hatchbacks...
